REVIEW: The style could be summarized in a single
phrase: 'Oasis meets The Verve', it's got the
helicopters from a recent Oasis video ('Be Here
Now'), and the famous intro/riff from
'Bittersweet Symphony'. Could it be that Vauxhall
are really aiming this ad at the younger driver?
Nah, surely not :-)
The ad starts off rather mysteriously, with a
dark screen revealing some helicopters flying in
on some kind of mission. This in itself isn't
completely new to us. Countries have been
'invaded' by cars before - recently we saw an
Audi smuggled into the East in an underwater bag.
Of course the ad finishes with the obligatory
shots of the car cruising the kind of roads we'd
all love to drive, but the presentation of this
ad is still immaculate.
Despite my little quip above, it's not quite
clear who the target audience is supposed to be.
It's not advertised as being fun, cheap and fast,
nor is it aimed at the everyday white-collar
working man to drive to the office in.

SUMMARY: Don't expect your new Astra to be
delivered by a passing chopper...
that's an optional extra.
A good solid TV advert.
